I have spoken about how great this class was since I attended it. Very informative I really have a new understanding for mental health patients

I recently attended the Behavioral Health Instructor course through the Healthcare System where I work as a Police Officer. The instructor, Cosmo, was absolutely one of the best instructors I have ever had for any classroom-based training. I was able to learn an abundance of information on the ongoing mental health crisis that presents as an overwhelming issue with healthcare systems across the country.

This training also provided information on how to properly deescalate a potentially violent situation.

I am more than confident that I will be able to use my status as an instructor to further train medical staff at my hospital, to increase employee safety and raise additional awareness to the mental health crisis.

I have taken several AVADE classes. Have completed a Work Place Violence prevention instructor course, with Mr. and Mrs. Fowler. A Train the trainer course with them as well. Great instructors, and amazing people in general. Have used them as a resource as I work to implement different things into our hospital and when working with local law enforcement. Recently took the Behavioral Health course with Cosmo. He was an amazing instructor as well. Very knowledgeable in the content, great exercises to showcase the techniques. All of the staff I have interacted with have been amazing. I have taken and taught several self-defense courses, and this one is by far the best one I have ever taken or had the privilege to teach.

I recently completed the 24 hour advanced instructor training with Cosmo and the entire experience was excellent. Having taken an AVADE program in the past (taught by David) I was familiar with AVADE and a huge advocate of the program created by David Fowler, I was excited to get another opportunity to train. More than a decade after my initial experience (which was also excellent) Cosmo continues to represent AVADE an an incredibly high level.

Great content, but as an instructor, it was Cosmo who made the class engaging and highly enjoyable. His energy and genuine care for safety and for both his students and those we serve is impressive. These skills are perishable and so how I work to retain and train moving forward is 100% on me. But I was handed a huge advantage in any issues I am in position to deal with moving forward. Thanks again for everything, Cosmo, and everyone at AVADE!

A patient attempted to bite me on the behavioral health unit. With other systems, I'd probably get bitten. Thanks AVADE for helping to prevent me from getting chomped.

AVADE is the real deal. Passion and experience stressed through instruction and fantastic instructors, Patrick/Cody. After attending 5 classes over 5 days, I have a better understanding of what was taught, and can now pass the knowledge to my students, but also a better understanding of myself as a person.

My three-day AVADE Advanced Behavioral Health “train the trainer” experience was excellent. My trainer, Cosmo, was one of the best facilitators I have had of the several de-escalation/restraint training courses I have done. His experience, knowledge, care, and passion for teaching others really shined through this training. He would stay after class to provide information and resources that I know will help me and the staff at my agency feel empowered to keep themselves and others safe. Thank you, Cosmo.

I attended the 1-day De-Escalation Instructor training course. Cosmo was an incredible instructor. He is an engaging and knowledgeable speaker. His real-life examples were relevant and relatable. I work primarily with newly licensed registered nurses. This training will be invaluable to them as they enter the nursing profession in a time that often feels like the wild west. I just wanted to say thank you so very much for this class—I learned so much, as I always do. This was my third time attending instructor training, and for whatever reason, this class felt especially invaluable to me. I’m not sure if it’s because of the population I work with now, changes in my job performance, or simply the way the information was presented this time, but I truly found it impactful.
