A patient attempted to bite me on the behavioral health unit. With other systems, I'd probably get bitten. Thanks AVADE for helping to prevent me from getting chomped.

AVADE is the real deal. Passion and experience stressed through instruction and fantastic instructors, Patrick/Cody. After attending 5 classes over 5 days, I have a better understanding of what was taught, and can now pass the knowledge to my students, but also a better understanding of myself as a person.

My three-day AVADE Advanced Behavioral Health “train the trainer” experience was excellent. My trainer, Cosmo, was one of the best facilitators I have had of the several de-escalation/restraint training courses I have done. His experience, knowledge, care, and passion for teaching others really shined through this training. He would stay after class to provide information and resources that I know will help me and the staff at my agency feel empowered to keep themselves and others safe. Thank you, Cosmo.

I attended the 1-day De-Escalation Instructor training course. Cosmo was an incredible instructor. He is an engaging and knowledgeable speaker. His real-life examples were relevant and relatable. I work primarily with newly licensed registered nurses. This training will be invaluable to them as they enter the nursing profession in a time that often feels like the wild west. I just wanted to say thank you so very much for this class—I learned so much, as I always do. This was my third time attending instructor training, and for whatever reason, this class felt especially invaluable to me. I’m not sure if it’s because of the population I work with now, changes in my job performance, or simply the way the information was presented this time, but I truly found it impactful. I’m so thankful for this experience, and as always, you all do such a spectacular job.

I just completed Instructor Training for Defensive Tactics, De Escalation, Pepper Spray Defense, and Handcuffing Tactics with Patrick in Las Vegas. Patrick is exceptional in his teaching methods and does a fantastic job of training the trainer from the basics up to putting it altogether in a simulated scenario.

Patrick used real life examples that forced me to see and understand how these skills can be applied. Patrick was thorough, organized, and explained a reason for everything he showed us. I am grateful and feel empowered with the skill sets I learned in each class. I am excited to use what I learned in AVADE to help develop the training program at my place of employment. I would first like to thank the two instructors that trained us in AVADE , Patrick and Raoul were great. This is the second time I have taken an AVADE course , and this one was the best by far, the instructors were very knowledgeable about the course and they explained in detail what we should and should not be doing. They gave us the tools and the confidence on what to do if attacked and also the steps to doing good report writing. I have already started showing my officers the proper ways to conduct escorts off property and what they should know as far as the rules of law. The best thing that I like about what the instructors did , was that they never made us feel like we could not do the technique that we needed to perform. They went over the proper ways to place restraints on a patient with out hurting the patient. They showed us that no matter who it is we, have to be vigilant at all times. I just enjoyed the class and when you have good instructors it makes a world of difference, much love and respect goes out to both instructors.

The 3-days of 8 hour classes felt short as Cosmo kept us entertained, not only with his personality but all the great prepared information. A+ for Cosmo!

We conducted our first AVADE BH course last week with overwhelmingly positive feedback from staff who were in attendance, including our float pool staff, clinical teams, and public safety. The interest and traction that this is gaining across our hospital is amazing. We’ll be putting on two more classes in May for Mental Health Awareness Month and continue to roll it out throughout the year – I guarantee we’ll be filling classes. Thanks for all of your work on this course!

I recently completed the AVADE Advanced Instructor training with Cosmo. The course was amazing but Cosmo made it so much better. It was informative but he made it fun! I actually left tired but a little upset that it was over. I look forward to bringing AVADE back to my hospital and teaching our team what de-escalation is supposed to look like. Thank you Cosmo for your expertise and to David for all his hard work presenting AVADE to us and answering any questions we had.
